Combi USA asks ACI Design to design a 30 x 30 rental exhibit.Strollers, car seats, high chairs, play yards, walkers for kids are some of the many products that Combi USA needed to display at the ABC KIDS Expo in Louisville, Kentucky.
The Challenge:- Create a cohesive presentation of a lot of bulky product, reduce the mess
- Keep the products easily accessible for product demonstration and handling
- Keep the colors and scheme in line with corporate standards
- Use colors that are neutral and do not compete with the product
- A closet for storage
- Conference room area for one-on-one meetings
- Stay within a budget of $40,000-$45,000
The Solution:
We started with the idea of platforms on the floor to raise up the product and define areas for presentation. And, one of the least expensive components for making the platforms is a 40mm square aluminum extrusion. ACI Design keeps a lot of aluminum extrusion on hand for custom rentals. It's easy to design with, affordable and requires very few tools.
Clear coated MDF boards were used for the platform tops. Orange plastic panels were laid on the carpet inside the platforms to set them apart form the carpet color.
We left the sides open and inserted the white panels, cut with a CNC router into an oval that hinted at the "i" in the logo. These were inserted on each side of the platform.
The simplicity of the base looked so good that it became the inspiration for the rest of the booth. The base of the platforms was carried around the base of the booth.
The Combi logo was produced using dye-sublimated fabric and attached to the face of the exhibit using a silicone bead sewn around the perimeter of the graphic.
The method allows for the fabric to be stretched tight over a long span and have clean edges.
The 40mm square extrusion was used for the rest of the structure. It's small profile doesn't compete visually with the clients products and creates nice lines.
Additionally, we decided to orient the panels horizontally to help the booth feel wider and larger. White plastic panels finished the rest of the structure to create solid walls.
Final price $41,000.
